What is
Adventure Edinburgh?
Adventure Edinburgh aims to give young people the opportunity to develop skills and interests in walking, climbing and mountain biking. Through this you are encouraged to become self-sufficient in your chosen activity.
Adventure Edinburgh is closely aligned with the four capacities promoted through the Curriculum of Excellence, namely successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.

Who Is It For?
Adventure Edinburgh is for you if you are aged 12 to 16 years and live in Edinburgh. You should have a genuine interest in learning and developing and must demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to the project.
What Do You Do?
Adventure Edinburgh participants get opportunities to go walking, climbing and mountain biking all over Scotland.
Sessions have included trail building, lead climbing outdoor and indoor, winter walking and climbing skills, visits to bmx/skate parks, mountain bike expeditions, workshops on techniques and skills, bouldering, first aid, bike maintenance, route planning, navigation skills, expedition planningand social events.
You are encouraged to develop your technical, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills in order to become self-sufficient in your chosen activity.
When Does It Run?
Most sessions are at the weekend with evening classes on skills and techniques. These are mainly during term time.
How Does It Work?
Anyone who is 12-16 years old and lives in Edinburgh can join.
Everyone is invited to book onto the Introductory Phase where individuals enjoy sessions that work on fundamental skills and techniques. During these sessions you are assessed on your enthusiasm and commitment to developing.
Individuals who genuinely want to learn are then invited onto the Development Phase where you can receive higher level coaching and advanced trips.
What Is Expected Of You?
Respect for: others / instructors / kit / environment.
How Much Is It?
The sessions are currently subsidised and normally cost only £5 per session including equipment hire, transport and instructors. All evening classes and social events are free.
